Web 2.0 and Such

Well, I kinda get the idea of Web 2.0, what it's supposed to be and all, but I do find it difficult to believe that there is really going to be this sense of community, everybody helping everyone else, etc. Come on, our society was built on the idea of competition! Winner take all!

And as far as MySpace pages in libraries? Not sure about that on either. Well, maybe it might be more appealing to the younger set. Me, I don't even have a MySpace page and wouldn't know how to get one. Isn't that just for meeting people?

Still, I do think it's a valuable thing for libraries to reach out to their public and try and connect with them. Maybe libraries do need to meet people. Certainly looking around our library I can see a big change in what the students are using (MySpace) or needing for their studies (everything online). It might be a way to communicate with our public.
